“JOY“ necklace / soft jewelry

Working with textiles is giving me so much joy. So i transformed JOY into textiles and embroidered, crocheted and knitted this soft necklace:

cut cloth letters JOY with rose turquoise and lilac yarn
JOY necklace: letters out of transparent paper on tailor´s dummy

Joy is an essential and desired human emotion. For me it is hard to find the right words to describe it, but I like these definitions:

Brené Brown* defines joy based on her research as an intense feeling of deep spiritual connection, pleasure and appreciation.

While experiencing joy, we don´t loose ourselves, we become more truly ourselves, says Researcher Matthew Kuan Johnson.

* Brené Brown is a researcher and storyteller, who spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy. In her book Atlas of the heart she explores eighty-seven of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human. One of them is joy:

And this little guy inspired me to make this necklace: Faun mit Weitblick (faun with a vision), sitting in Landtag Graz. The next time i visit Graz he will have to model for me – with the necklace on.
